Have been reading a chinese book recommended by my mom. It is the autobiography of a chinese girl (she's 33 this yr) who grew up in China, did her undergrad in Dartmouth, worked in the Wall Street and Hong Kong office of Morgan Stanley and later became the host of phoenix TV. Although I've yet to finish the book..I cant wait to record down some of the stuff she said which is really really meaningful. It was really an enriching read, covering her experiences of schooling, uni applications, internship, job interviews, the world of investment banking etc etc..There's so much stuff that I could identify with her and learn from her...
She was a really high-flyer in Morgan Stanley, within 3 years, she was promoted from an analyst to a manager, she has helped major merger and acquistions and IPOs such as BP and Amoco and the listing of Sina.com on Nasdaq. She was leading a life that so many people desire, making frequent overseas trips, earning a high salary, dining at expensive restaurants..splurging on luxury goods..she worked really hard at the same time..often working 18 hours a day..However, one day she realised she's really tired of the world of investment banking and decided to quit..below are some of the excerpts of what she said which I felt are really meaningful:
These are her realisations after 26 yrs of hard work. I'm glad that I've followed my heart. I will work hard when I'm young and I believe that one day I will realise all these myself and find my own happiness:)
